Everton are reportedly set to appoint Sam Allardyce as their new manager.
According to Sky Sports, David Unsworth will revert back to his role as Everton’s Under-23 manager after Sam Allardyce is appointed as the club’s new manager.
Everton appear to have finally found their new manager, as Sam Allardyce is poised to pen a deal with the Toffees in the coming days.
Over a month on from sacking Ronald Koeman, Everton finally seem to be on the verge of settling down, but that will raise questions about the future of David Unsworth.
Under-23 coach Unsworth stepped in to become Everton caretaker after Koeman’s exit, but recent results – such as 5-1 and 4-1 defeats to Atalanta and Southampton over the last week – mean a new appointment was needed.
Sky Sports now report that Unsworth’s Everton future has been decided, as he will revert back to being the club’s Under-23 manager.
That will take Unsworth out of the firing line and enable him to get back to developing young players, with Allardyce instead choosing to bring in Sammy Lee and Craig Shakespeare as his right-hand men, as both are expected to arrive.
Additionally, Everton legend Duncan Ferguson will be kept at the club, having worked under David Moyes, Roberto Martinez and Koeman, serving an important role as a coach.
It seems that Allardyce has everything prepared for his Goodison Park move, and Everton fans have to hope that he can lead the club away from relegation trouble this season.
