Chelsea have reportedly decided that they are willing to let Aston Villa sign Tammy Abraham once again.
According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Chelsea have decided that they are willing to let Tammy Abraham leave this summer, but Aston Villa could need to pay £25 million to sign the striker for a second time with the Blues not planning to listen to loan bids.
Abraham enjoyed an outstanding year with the Villans, scoring 25 goals in the Championship as Dean Smith’s side went on to secure promotion to the Premier League in the play-off final at Wembley.
Unsurprisingly, Villa appear to be keen to keep Abraham this summer. But the Daily Mirror has reported that parent club Chelsea have no interest in loaning the 21-year-old out, and are only prepared to sell the forward who could cost £25 million.
The reports should be encouraging for Villa. There had been some concerns that Chelsea’s transfer ban may leave the Europa League winners looking to keep hold of as many of their players as possible. And with Abraham playing in a position where the Blues perhaps lack depth, there seemed to be every chance that he may get an opportunity at Stamford Bridge next season.
But Villa must now weigh up whether to meet his potential asking price with Chelsea open to selling the youngster. Based on his form this past season, £25 million could be a real bargain.
However, perhaps Abraham’s previous record at the highest level will leave Smith and the Villa hierarchy with a couple of doubts to consider before they make a bid.
