Arsenal won’t be signing Philippe Coutinho this summer, according to a report.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Barcelona misfit in recent months and his agent has close ties to the club’s hierarchy in North London.
But according to Goal.com, a transfer to the Emirates Stadium isn’t going to materialise for financial reasons.
The report does add that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has three primary positions that he wants to strengthen.
Arteta, according to Goal.com, would like a centre-back, a right-back and a box-to-box midfielder signed when the transfer window opens.
If the Spaniard genuinely wants a right-back then it could be assumed that Cedric Soares won’t be signed on a permanent basis.
Arsenal brought the Portugal international in on a half-season loan in January but injury prevented him from making his debut, before the global health crisis struck.
And if Arteta is in the market for a right-back then maybe it’s a sign that Soares – whose Southampton contract expires in the summer – won’t be kept on.
