Report shares Alan Pardew’s plans if West Brom are relegated

West Bromwich Albion appear to be in serious trouble in the Premier League this season.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Alan Pardew has suggested to the West Brom hierarchy that he would like to stay on as manager even if they are relegated to the Championship this season.

The Baggies are starting to be written off by most right now. The club have won three times in the Premier League all season and now find themselves seven points off safety with just 10 games to go.

Pardew has only overseen one of those victories, but the Mirror reports that he has no plans to quit his post at The Hawthorns – even if the club fail to beat the drop and are relegated to the second tier.

According to the Mirror, Pardew has made it clear that he wants to continue in the role even if they go down as he believes that the problems that have unfolded this term have been caused by more long-term issues than by his uninspiring tenure.

The Mirror adds that Pardew plans to revert to a more positive system this weekend and recall Chris Brunt to the starting lineup for the trip to Watford in the hope that the Baggies can still salvage their season.

Should Baggies keep Pardew?

Pardew’s time at the club has certainly not gone to plan with the club much worse off in the battle for Premier League survival than when he arrived, but with given the discontent at the end of Tony Pulis’ spell, it is clearly not all his fault that they find themselves in their current situation.

However, there may well be a group of Baggies supporters who would rather see the club target a young manager who will be looking to build something at The Hawthorns should they go down rather than stick with Pardew.

Pardew cannot be blamed for all of the problems at the club, but convincing the fans to keep faith with him will undoubtedly be a hugely difficult task for the Baggies hierarchy if they do not show some serious fight in the coming weeks.
