Marcelo Bielsa and Pep Guardiola love a versatile player and they may well get one in Udinese’s sought-after star, Rodrigo de Paul if they get their way.

Italian outlet Tutto Mercato have linked Leeds United’s name to the 26-year-old and also claimed that Guardiola at Manchester City is an admirer of de Paul.

With several other clubs also lurking in the corner for his signature, including Liverpool, the report does state that de Paul is ‘respected’ by the trophy-laden Spanish coach.

And it shouldn’t be a surprise.

De Paul is an effective player, who can play various attacking roles for his side, from attacking midfield, a sitter or putting opposition players on their backside if thrown out wide.

No wonder Marcelo Bielsa is interested in bringing him to Elland Road because he would add serious dynamism, leadership qualities and spark to this growing Leeds side.

Bielsa is getting over the first finishing line at Leeds, and that’s securing their safety in England’s top-flight, but the Yorkshire outfit don’t want to stop there.

Getting back to Europe is the main aim and someone like de Paul would help elevate Bielsa’s men.

But, just like the previous transfer windows, Leeds will be in for a gruelling summer where it won’t be straightforward trying to lure de Paul their way.

If someone like Liverpool are serious about taking him on then they may stand little chance of watching his talents on the Elland Road turf next term.
