Newcastle United have recently been linked with a move to sign Miguel Layun from Porto. The Chronicle recently relayed reports from Mexico and Portugal which suggested that Layun was the subject of interest from Newcastle, with the attacking full-back a target that excited Newcastle fans.

The Mexican, who has 2.33 million followers on Twitter, is not however going to be an easy purchase.

According to reports in Mexico Newcastle do remain keen on the player, but have a task on their hands beating La Liga outfit Sevilla to his signature.

Debate is reporting that Sevilla are keen on signing the player and could spend up to six million euros (£5.2 million) for the privilege of bringing the player to the Sanchez Pizjuan from Porto.

Newcastle recently missed out on one top transfer target to Spanish rivals, when Ruben Semedo decided he would join Villarreal from Sporting Lisbon rather than head to St James’ Park.

Missing out on the former Watford man would not be such a bitter blow, but still one which irks on Tyneside.
