According to Todo Fichajes, Sevilla are close to winning the race for Brest midfielder Ibrahima Diallo amid links to Arsenal.
It’s claimed that talks are ‘well underway’ between the two clubs. A deal could be agreed soon, which would be worth around €14million (£12.5million).
The move is ‘very close’, with Monchi pushing to win the battle for Diallo before English clubs can get in and sign the Frenchman.
The Daily Star recently reported that Arsenal wanted to launch a £20million bid for Diallo. Everton had also made an enquiry according to that report, which branded the box-to-box midfielder as ‘the next N’Golo Kante’.
Leicester failed with a £16million bid in January, so it’s hard to see Sevilla’s £12.5million bid succeeding now. Maybe they’re paying £12.5million up front with add-ons to come, because the quoted price seems very cheap.
Diallo, 21, was formerly with the likes of Tours and Monaco. He joined Brest permanently last summer, having impressed on loan.
A French youth international, Diallo could still play for Senegal. He could now follow in the footsteps of his brother Abdou Diallo in joining a huge club, with Abdou now with Paris Saint-Germain.
There may still be time for Arsenal to swoop in, but Sevilla are pushing hard to get a deal done – and potentially leave the Gunners going back to the drawing board for a new midfielder.
