According to The Athletic, Bournemouth have ‘serious interest’ in signing Conor Hourihane from Aston Villa in the January transfer window.

It has been reported that Villa have told the 29-year-old central midfielder that he can move on this month.

The report has added that Hourihane will leave the Villans on loan, and that Championship club Bournemouth are ‘serious’ about securing the services of the Republic of Ireland international.

The Cherries will consider offering the option of a permanent deal if they clinch promotion back to the Premier League at the end of the season, according to the report.

Leaving Aston Villa

Hourihane has been on the books of Villa since 2017, and was described by former Villans’ manager Steve Bruce as “a wonderful finisher” on the club’s official website in March 2018.

However, the Republic of Ireland international is struggling for playing time at the moment and has lost his place in the team.

A move away from Villa on a loan deal would make sense for the 29-year-old, who has made only three starts in the Premier League so far this season, according to WhoScored.
