According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Roma have reached an agreement to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, a player also reportedly in Tottenham’s sights.
Romano states a €25 million (£23.1 million) fee plus add-ons has been accepted by Roma, and it is now up to the player to decide on a move.
The news comes as somewhat of a transfer blow for Jose Mourinho, who has openly said he wants and needs a new striker to compete with Harry Kane.
The north Londoners have no recognised out-and-out strikers to compete with the England international, who is prone to injury.
Spurs have versatile forwards who can deputise such as Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn, although none are the number nine-type forward Kane is.

Milik, Carlo Ancelotti said, is “more complete than Mauro Icardi”.
He said: “I have always had great centre-forwards in my career, from Inzaghi to Ibra.
“Icardi is a great centre-forward like Milik. The Pole, however, is more complete, even if the Argentine finishes more inside the area.”

While news of a possible Roma move is definitely a blow, perhaps it could be a blessing in disguise for the 2019 Champions League finalists. Milik has a terrible history with injuries.
The Polish striker missed 127 days of action with a cruciate ligament injury and 158 days with another knee issue, according to Transfermarkt.
The last thing Mourinho, Daniel Levy and everyone at Tottenham would want is for Milik to arrive for big money only to end up in the treatment room.
While losing out on a target will always be seen as a blow, perhaps there are other strikers out there with a more enticing fitness record?
