Report: Senior sources provide update on Mike Ashley’s plan, amid Newcastle United takeover rumours

According to the Chronicle, senior sources have told them that Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is still planning on staying at St. James’ Park for the medium to long-term, despite takeover reports recently.

The Daily Mail have suggested that a US consortium are interested in buying Newcastle.

With the club up for sale, a takeover is certainly not impossible, but Ashley reportedly has no immediate plans to leave.

Newcastle fans have rallied against Ashley, after what has been a poor start to the season.

But even the chants against Ashley at St. James’ Park do not seem to have put Newcastle’s owner off staying in charge.

Although he is willing to listen to offers, the businessman is believed to have plans to stay at Newcastle at least for the medium-term still.

Newcastle are still looking for their first win of the campaign, with their next match coming against Brighton & Hove Albion.
