Spanish outlet Diario De Ibiza claim that second-tier side Ibiza are closing in on the signing of Leeds outcast Mateusz Bogusz, where he spent last season on loan. That is, despite recent comments from Jesse Marsch.

Bogusz, 20, is close to recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury at the beginning of the year. During the first half of the season he starred for Ibiza on loan, having a hand in 11 goals during 22 appearances in league and cup.

But the injury ended his season early. He is now at Leeds, where he still has a contract until next summer. But Ibiza are now closing in on his return. The playmaker was in the stands on the weekend, as Ibiza lost on penalties to Mallorca.

Last week, Marsch hinted that he could take a look at Bogusz before making a decision on him – as he recovers. But now, it appears that the Pole will be returning to Spain to play again for Ibiza, potentially on a permanent basis.

Bogusz is now at the stage in his career where he needs to get out and play. He did that at Ibiza with 22 games coming his way before the injury. Had he not been injured, he might have clocked up 40 appearances in all competitions.

With his contract ending next summer and Leeds unlikely to offer a new deal, a move is required. Rejoining a club where he knows he will get plenty of game time is key. Ibiza like him and Bogusz likes Ibiza.

There is no point of a loan. Even with Marsch suggesting he could take a look at the youngster, Leeds need to cut their ties with the midfielder and be done with it. A talent, but not at this standard. It looks like, Bogusz is going to Ibiza.
