It seems that the Burnley boss has no desire to leave Turf Moor for Villa Park.
Aston Villa could be dealt another blow in their search for a new permanent manager, as Sky Sports report that Burnley boss Sean Dyche is not interested in making the switch.
The odds of Dyche taking up the reins at Villa Park have shortened drastically in the last 48 hours or so, and it appeared as though the Clarets manager could be tempted into dropping down into the Championship.
The 45-year-old would likely be a popular choice amongst Villa fans, having led the Lancashire club to promotion to the Premier League twice in the last three seasons.
However, Sky Sports are now reporting that the former Watford manager has no inclination to leave the Premier League side to drop down to Villa, who are struggling badly to adapt to life in the Championship.
That is a big blow for Villa, and appears to leave former Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic, and Hull City manager Steve Bruce as the only real candidate.
Bruce has already admitted his desire to get the job, but his appointment would likely divide the opinions of supporters, both because of his history at St. Andrew’s and over doubts as to how far he could take Villa.
Former Villa striker Stan Collymore said on Tuesday that Bruce would need a thick skin to take charge at Villa Park, and it appears as though that is a situation which is becoming more and more certain.
Assistant manager Steve Clarke will be in the dugout for Saturday’s clash with West Midlands rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers as Villa search for only a second win in 13 games this season.
