Newcastle United are reportedly interested in appointing Burnley boss Sean Dyche this summer.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Newcastle would have to pay around £10 million to get Sean Dyche out of his contract should they decide to step up their interest in the Burnley boss this summer.

The Magpies are looking for their next manager after the announcement came this week that Rafa Benitez will be leaving St James’ Park when his contract expires in the coming days.

The frustration over Benitez’s imminent departure is now turning into apprehension of over who the Spaniard’s successor is going to be, and one of the names reportedly in the frame is Clarets chief Dyche.

The Daily Mail reports that Burnley would be looking for a fee of around £10 million for the Englishman, with three years remaining on his £65,000-a-week deal at Turf Moor.

Priced out of Newcastle move?

It would be a surprise if Newcastle decided to pay the eight-figure fee to get Dyche out of his contract with their Premier League rivals. The work that he has done with Burnley has been brilliant, but the Magpies – Miguel Almiron aside – are not known for their expensive purchases.

There is still an element of risk attached to appointing Dyche, with the expectations at Burnley being fairly different to those on Tyneside. The risk may well pay off, but paying £10 million would undoubtedly increase the pressure on his shoulders.
