According to the Daily Mail, Burnley boss Sean Dyche is angry that the club haven’t sorted out a new deal for midfielder Jeff Hendrick.
It’s claimed that Dyche is frustrated that the Clarets haven’t offered extensions to five out-of-contract players ahead of their deals expiring on June 30th.
Hendrick is one of them. Phil Bardsley, Joe Hart, Aaron Lennon and Adam Legzdins are the others, with all five currently set to leave the club.
Burnley have offered them one-month extension to see out the delayed Premier League season, but their long-term futures may lie away from Turf Moor.
Hendrick, 28, has racked up 139 appearances for Burnley, notching 10 goals. The midfielder is likely to attract major interest, with rumours already emerging.
TEAMtalk claim that Celtic and Newcastle United both want Hendrick. They seemingly believe that Hendrick would be a bargain addition on a free transfer, even if he’s not a particularly ‘sexy’ addition.
Hendrick is hard-working and versatile, which is why Dyche has rated him so highly, though Newcastle may be in the market for bigger names if their takeover materialises.
With Hendrick yet to receive a long-term offer from Burnley, Celtic or Newcastle can now swoop in – and enrage Dyche even more.
