There had been hopes that Scott Hogan might make it back in time to play for Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa side at the weekend.

Hogan has missed the whole of the season so far with injury, but he has been back in training recently.
There were hopes that the striker would be back sooner rather than later, but it seems that Steve Bruce is being cautious with his recovery.
Hogan is now expected to be sidelined again at the weekend, as Villa look to make it back to back victories.
Bruce’s men won against Rotherham United in midweek, and head into their game against Wednesday as favourites too.

If Hogan had been fit it seems likely that he would have had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench.
Bruce has paired Tammy Abraham and Jonathan Kodjia up-front for Villa recently, and the duo’s strike partnership showed signs of promise against Rotherham.
