West Ham United’s Ryan Fredericks could be set for an international switch.

According to The Express, Scotland are aiming to tempt West Ham United ace Ryan Fredericks into switching nationality to play for Steve Clarke’s side.

Scotland are looking to take major steps forward under new boss Clarke, having made a poor start to their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

Clarke will be assessing every player available to him, and that may well include looking to players who have Scottish heritage and are able to switch their international allegiance.

One such player is West Ham ace Fredericks, and The Express claim that Scotland boss Clarke is offering him the chance to play for Scotland, with talks believed to be imminent.

Right back has been a problem area for Scotland, with neither Stephen O’Donnell or Liam Palmer managing to convince fans that they’re the solution.

Steve Clarke is unveiled as the new Scotland National Team head coach at Hampden Park on May 21, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Fredericks could now offer an alternative, and it’s claimed that he’s open to switching in order to start his senior international career with Scotland.

The speedy full back enjoyed great form towards the end of the season, and it would be a major career change for Fredericks, giving up on the hope of playing for England.

It may also impact his playing time with West Ham, as he may be tired coming out of international breaks, potentially giving veteran Pablo Zabaleta a chance to fill in.
