According to the Daily Record, Scotland are set to sack manager Alex McLeish after a dismal couple of games in the international break.

McLeish saw his side absolutely embarrassed in a 3-0 thrashing away at Kazakhstan last week, before labouring to a 2-0 win over San Marino on Sunday.

Even after winning that game, Scotland fans booed loudly, with many calling for McLeish to go – and it seems that they’ve got their wish.

The Daily Record claim that McLeish will be sacked imminently, with confirmation expected in the next 24 hours as the SFA act quickly.

Rangers dodged a bullet

McLeish has now ultimately been found out in the modern game, and it would be a huge surprise if he landed a managerial role elsewhere any time soon.

The 60-year-old simply looks out of his depth in such a big job, and it’s far to say that Rangers will feel they dodged a bullet two years ago.

A former Rangers boss, McLeish admitted to The Scottish Sun that he held talks with the club about a shock return to Ibrox following Mark Warburton’s exit, but Pedro Caixinha was ultimately chose instead.

Caixinha didn’t fare well, but clearly McLeish would have been a disastrous appointment too, with McLeish and Rangers best consigned to the past.
