According to CalcioMercato, Schalke are waiting for Liverpool to make a move for their Turkish defender Ozan Kabak.

The Reds have long been linked with a move for the defender, but no concrete bid has been submitted for him as of yet.

Unfortunately, the Merseyside outfit aren’t the only club interested in Kabak, with CalcioMercato reporting that AC Milan are also after him, but despite the Serie A outfit making their interest clear, Schalke are reportedly waiting to see what Liverpool do before making a decision.

The 20-year-old’s asking price has been reduced to just €20 million (£18 million), amid the Bundesliga club’s ongoing financial crisis, and the German outfit are keen to see what Liverpool will do.

The Reds certainly need a centre-back after Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk went down with long-term injuries, and Kabak seems to be the ideal player to bring in.

Not only is he young and cheap, but he seems to be unbelievably talented, with AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini recently raving about him on French television channel Telefoot (Via CalcioMercato).

The Italian legend described him as a young defender who is very good at one-on-one situations, which is big praise from arguably the greatest defender of all time.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool move in for Kabak, but it seems as though Schalke are hopeful that the Premier League champions will make an offer for the centre-back.
