David Moyes is keen to sign the Spanish midfielder in the next week.
Sevilla’s Vicente Iborra
Sunderland’s move for Vicente Iborra has been in the news this week. The Sevilla midfielder has been targeted as an alternative option to French midfielder Yann M’Vila – whose club Rubin Kazan are refusing to budge on their asking price.
Now his agent and David Moyes have been talking about the deal.

Speaking to Estadio Deportivo the Spanish midfielder’s agent Fede Marco says no deal has yet been accepted, but that Iborra could make the move to the North-East of England:
“The offer from Sunderland is a market situation. We think it is important enough to the club and therefore the move as we have done before.
“That does not mean that Sevilla is not happy with Iborra or Iborra is not happy in Sevilla, because it is quite the opposite, but with an important offer we have to move.
“The player is what he is, a good deal. Sevilla president also has well expressed, as they have to study it (the transfer) and wait to see what happens.”

The Guardian recently reported that a deal had been agreed between the two clubs of around £7 million. Whilst it appears this is the price, Sevilla still need to decide whether to sell the midfielder.
Moyes spoke to the press about the deal yesterday. The Sunderland boss is quoted by the Northern Echo as suggesting the 28-year-old has other options:
“So I’m hoping … we have made an offer for Iborra at Sevilla, which we believe has been accepted, we’re just not sure if it’s going to get through.
“I’m not sure it’s the case that it’s all done. I think there might be another club in for him.”

They claim that it is La Liga side Valencia who are also courting Iborra. The midfielder is from Moncada, near Valencia, and home comforts may give Sunderland a tough task convincing him of heading to Wearside.
Iborra is said to be happy at Sevilla, but open to the opportunity of a new challenge should Sevilla decide that a sale is the best option economically.
It seems that is the case, the only question now is – where will he go?
