Report says Liverpool player has completed move abroad, three-year deal rumoured

Nantes have completed the signing of Liverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella, according to French publication FootSur7.

It always felt likely that a Spanish midfielder would be on his way out of Anfield this summer.

It’s not often that a young player turns his back on the reigning European and soon-to-be Premier League champions, but Chirivella knows deep down that a move away from Liverpool is for the best.

Despite a number of impressive performances in cup competitions, the long-serving youngster has not played a single second of top-flight football under Jurgen Klopp this season.

And, at the age of 22, he will not want to spend another year stuck on the sidelines.

Nantes could offer Chirivella the regular first-team football he needs and it seems that a move to France is all-but done.

There has been no official confirmation yet from either side but, according to FootSur7, the deal is agreed. This comes a fortnight after Ouest France claimed that he had undergone a medical at Nantes and was set to put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

Chirivella will not cost the Ligue 1 outfit a penny either, with his contract due to expire in July.

And while Liverpool may be disappointed to see him head for the exit, Goal reports that the Reds were keen to tie Chirivella down to a new contract, there is no shortage of players in the Under 23 squad ready to push for a place in Klopp’s plans.
