According to The Telegraph, Henry Mauriss is ramping up his attempts to purchase Newcastle United – and it could be good news for Steve Bruce.
It’s claimed that the Saudi Arabian-led group attempting to purchase the club have now lost exclusivity rights, leaving rival offers open to arriving.
The current takeover bid has been going on for weeks and weeks with little movement, and it now seems that Mauriss is ready to pounce.
Mauriss has drawn up a plan to buy the club and then pump money in to improve the squad, with a transfer budget of just £30million in place as things stand.
If Mauriss completes a takeover, he allegedly wants to keep boss Bruce in charge, rather than look to replace him immediately.
A number of managers had been linked with the job had the Saudi-led group taken over, from Mauricio Pochettino to Lucien Favre.

Bruce has fared well in his first season in charge though, and Mauriss would seemingly plan to keep him at the club and give him more money to spend.
Mauriss is the CEO of ClearTV in America, moving into media after previously making his fortune in the finance industry.
Some may wonder whether Mauriss has the funding to pull off such a deal, but he seems to be confident that he can not only get a deal done, but also fund forward progress.
