Everton are currently in 15th place in the Premier League table, and Sam Allardyce was one of the favourites for the job.

According to a report in the Daily Star, Sam Allardyce’s chances of getting the Everton job are fading.

Allardyce had been instated as the bookies’ favourite to take over at Everton, as the Merseyside club look to find Ronald Koeman’s successor.

However, the Star now claim that Allardyce is facing a tough task to win over Everton’s board.

The former England boss is keen on the Toffees job, but he wants to be given a two year contract at Goodison Park.

Everton are more keen on appointing Allardyce until the end of the season, when they can re-assess his position, depending on whether they are still in the Premier League.

Allardyce is not keen on signing a short-term deal, and Everton’s board are said to fear a backlash from the supporters if they do hand the 63-year-old a long-term deal.

Everton are currently in 15th place in the Premier League table, after what has been a disappointing campaign to date.
