West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United are all reportedly set to miss out on Salomon Rondon.
According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (7/7; page 61), Salomon Rondon is set to reject the chance to wait for a move to either Wolves, West Ham or Newcastle, with the West Brom striker attracting attention from the Chinese Super League.
Rondon has a lot of admirers this summer after impressive campaign on loan with the Magpies. He scored 12 goals, and with the Baggies failing to get promoted back to the Premier League, he looks set to be on the move again during this window.
The Sun on Sunday (7/7; page 61) reports that Newcastle want him back, while the Hammers and Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are also keen. But the Venezuela international is about to reject the trio and head to China, with The Sun’s sources reporting that he has lucrative offers on the table.
The report adds that a move to China could see West Brom bag £20 million from his departure, which would be a fantastic piece of business given that he only has one year left on his contract at the Hawthorns (via Express and Star).
If Rondon does indeed move to China, it would be a blow for the three Premier League sides. Newcastle and West Ham, in particular, definitely need new strikers this summer, and Rondon has been a consistent performer in England since his arrival.
With Wolves making Raul Jimenez’s move permanent, they perhaps do not need the 29-year-old as desperately. But it will still be a big disappointment as Nuno’s men prepare for Europa League football next season.
