According to La Provence, Southampton pulled out of a deal to sign defender Axel Disasi with fresh reports now claiming he is set to move elsewhere.
The Stade de Reims defender has been heavily linked with a summer move.
The Daily Mail claimed back in April how Southampton, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur headed a list of Premier League clubs keen on his signature.

At the time, the Saints were said to be hopeful of a £13 million deal.
But now reports from La Provence say Southampton changed their mind on the 22-year-old at the last-minute despite being very close to finalising a deal.
Disasi’s name has since circled in numerous reports. And Le10sport now say Monaco and Reims have an agreement which will see the player join the Principality club.
Will Southampton regret not signing the player?
If anybody watched the Saints in their recent 1-0 win over Manchester City, they would come to the conclusion that the defence is the last place they should spend money on.
The Saints were brilliant, with Jack Stephens having the game of his life.
But that said, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side could lack defensive options this summer. Jannik Vestergaard is likely to depart St Mary’s Stadium with Leicester City keen (Goal).
Disasi, at 22, would have been seen as a potential long-term option.
The French defender featured 27 times for Reims before the season came to a halt, averaging 1.2 tackles and 3.6 effective clearances per game (Whoscored).
