According to BuzzSport in France, Saint-Etienne have rejected a €10million (£9million) bid from Rennes for Everton target Denis Bouanga.

It’s claimed that the chances of Bouanga staying are considered ‘slim’. They have rejected the first bid from Rennes, who are looking to replace M’Baye Niang.

This report states that Everton are ready to offer €15million (£13.5million) for Bouanga. At that price, Saint-Etiene would allegedly be happy to sell.

It’s also suggested that Carlo Ancelotti could move quickly for Bouanga when the English window opens, but that won’t be for a while yet – potentially giving Rennes time to strike a deal.

The 25-year-old joined Saint-Etienne from Nimes last summer, and enjoyed a great season as he racked up 12 goals and five assists in all competitions.

Bouanga now finds himself a man in demand. Predominantly a left-sided winger, the Gabon international is quick and tricky, but also dangerous in the air and provides real end product.

£13.5million seems like a more than reasonable price for Bouanga, who maybe isn’t a household name just yet. Having proven himself in France, it may now be time to move to England.

Everton appear to be the main suitors, and with budgets tight due to the global pandemic, Bouanga could be a very sensible option – as long as Rennes don’t get there first.
