Newcastle United target and West Brom striker Saido Berahino has his sights set on Tottenham.
West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino is ‘desperate’ to join Tottenham Hotspur, report The Mirror.
The report claims Tottenham are set to make a bid of £18 million, urging the Baggies to take it or leave it.
Spurs made four attempts to sign Berahino in the summer, but they were each knocked back, with West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace unhappy with the structure of the transfer offers.
Berahino is also a transfer target for Newcastle United, with The Mirror claiming they also have him high on their list of targets.
Newcastle have recently bought Andros Townsend and Jonjo Shelvey from Spurs and Swansea.
It appears title chasing Tottenham are very much Berahino’s preferred option, rather than relegation battling Newcastle.
What if it does not go his way?
Berahino did not react well to failing to get his Tottenham move in the summer, and so far it has been very much a lost season for him.
This has led to questions over his attitude and even what he is worth. A wasted second half of the season could see interest in his signature diminish, and his price tag drop, and that may not be a risk West Brom want to take.
