Nottingham Forest’s midfield options now look bloated, with Aitor Karanka’s side busy making signings.

Forest were actually open to loaning out Yates towards the back end of the January transfer window, but they could not find the right club for him.
The defensive midfielder has now stuck around at the City Ground, but his chances of breaking into the first-team could be limited.
Forest have been busy adding to their midfield ranks over the international break, with both Claudio Yacob and Panagiotis Tachtsidis arriving.

Yacob and Tachtsidis both play in the same defensive midfield position as Yates, meaning Forest’s options there are now ample.
Aitor Karanka already has the likes of Ben Watson, Jack Colback and Liam Bridcutt already at the club, so Yates seems some way down the pecking order.
And the Nottingham Post report that Yates now could depart Forest in January, with Karanka likely to be open to a loan deal.
