According to Football.London, West Ham United could welcome right back Ryan Fredericks back into the squad for Saturday’s FA Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon.

The Hammers saw Fredericks go down with a shin injury back in November, which was seen as a major blow to Manuel Pellegrini’s options.

Fredericks’ injury left West Ham with a dearth of options behind Pablo Zabaleta ahead of the busy Christmas period, and the veteran has featured regularly.

Even at 34, Zabaleta has played seven lots of full 90 minutes since the beginning of December, with Pellegrini patiently awaiting Fredericks’ return.

On Tuesday, Fredericks played 45 minutes for West Ham’s Under-23’s in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Gillingham, with the Hammers winning 2-1.

Football.London now state that Fredericks is in contention to play against AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup this weekend, having been out for seven weeks.

The pacy right back, who joined from Fulham over the summer, has played just six games for West Ham in a slow start to his career at the London Stadium.

A game against League One AFC Wimbledon may be ideal to get Fredericks going again, whilst giving Pellegrini proven cover at right back.
