The Aston Villa man is on the verge of completing his move to Middlesbrough.
Sky Sports are reporting that Rudy Gestede’s move from Aston Villa to Middlesbrough has moved a step closer after the striker passed a medical.
The Premier League side had a £6 million bid accepted for the 28-year-old earlier in the window, and Sky Sports are now reporting that, following the successful medical, his move to the Riverside Stadium is set to be confirmed on Wednesday.

It is likely that both clubs will be delighted that the deal appears set to be completed so quickly and without a glitch. Boro will be pleased to have bolstered their attacking options, especially after their recent run of games which has seen them score just once in their last three.

And Villa should be pleased as they have received a good amount of money for a player who has struggled to hold down a place in Steve Bruce’s team this season.
Of his 18 Championship appearances this term, Gestede started just eight times and has scored just four, so Bruce may perhaps be hoping that the funds allow him to go after a player who can make a greater impact as the Villans try to put themselves right in the play-off mix.
