Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves – but he could end up at Manchester United instead.
The Gunners still look set to sell midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer, though a move to Roma is still dragging on after two months of rumours.
Arsenal have brought in Albert Sambi Lokonga, but landing a more experienced midfielder has to be a priority too if Xhaka is on the way out.
Manuel Locatelli has been one named suggested, with the pursuit of Wolves star Neves seemingly dying down a little of late.
Arsenal started talks to sign Neves in June, and Wolves were allegedly expecting a bid for their star midfielder whilst demanding £41million for him.
That seemingly hasn’t happened more than six weeks on.
Gianluca Di Marzio noted earlier this month that Neves is Arsenal’s top target to replace Xhaka, with the Gunners feeling they can’t land Locatelli from Sassuolo.
One interesting note last month came from 90Min, who suggested that Bruno Fernandes had told Manchester United to make a move for Neves.

Now, Eurosport journalist Dean Jones has told The Football Terrace that United are indeed pursuing Neves.
That means Neves is unsure about joining Arsenal, and would prefer to wait and see whether he can join United before committing to signing for Arsenal.
“In terms of Neves, they have definitely tried that,” said Jones. “Again, the player not sure if that’s the right move for him at this stage, and with Manchester United also in view for him, he’d rather wait things out and see whether that can actually come to fruition,” he added.
