Report: Rotherham face battle to hold on to Will Vaulks as Rangers eye move, 2.5 years since first Ibrox interest

Graeme Murty’s Rangers are again being linked with a move for the long-term Ibrox target.

Rangers are again being linked with a move for Will Vaulks – two and a half years since the Ibrox side were first credited with interest in Rotherham United midfielder.

According to the Daily Mail, Rangers, Sheffield United and Wigan Athletic are all keen on Vaulks, who is set to enter the final year of his contract at the New York Stadium.

The report claims both Rangers and Sheffield United ‘want to strengthen their midfield options on a tight budget’ this summer, whole the 24-year-old is keen to secure promotion with Rotherham before he discusses his future.

The Millers are currently fourth in League One and all but guaranteed a play-off place, but are said to face ‘a battle to hold on to the influential midfielder’.

Rangers were also linked with Vaulks during the January transfer window, but signed Sean Goss on loan instead.

However, it remains to be seen whether Rangers – who look set to have a new manager in place next season – will pursue a deal for the QPR player.

A move to near neighbours Sheffield United would be somewhat controversial for Vaulks – who played against Rangers while on Falkirk’s books earlier in the decade.
