Report: Roofe and Hernandez could feature in Leeds’ next U23 game

Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez are both reportedly in line to feature in Leeds United’s next under-23 game following their respective injuries.

Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez could both make their returns from injury when Leeds’ under-23s meet Burnley at Elland Road on Friday, according to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Neither man has featured for the Whites since the last international break, with Hernandez’s last outing coming in the 3-0 win away at Norwich while Roofe has not played since the stalemate with Middlesbrough.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Roofe has been dealing with a calf injury, while Hernandez has had a hamstring problem. But it appears that they could both make their returns this week, with the under-23 clash with the Clarets being earmarked as a game that the club have their eye on.

It would be a huge boost for Marcelo Bielsa’s side to have both men back in the fold, especially as they could be back playing for the first of two under-23 games before the first-team return to action against Blackburn next weekend.

While Leeds have done well without the two men, having Roofe and Hernandez back available could make a big difference given that both were in fantastic form before they sustained their respective injuries.

Roofe has already eclipsed his goals tally from his first season with the Whites and is well on his way to beating last term’s return of 11 goals in the league. Meanwhile, Hernandez continues to prove to be the classiest player in the Leeds squad, and his return will be especially welcome with Jack Harrison arguably struggling to turn his glimpses of undeniable quality into end product in the early stages of his loan spell.
