According to Sport BILD, Roma are interested in snapping up Borussia Dortmund defender Jeremy Toljan – just a year after being axed by Celtic.

It’s claimed that Toljan has been impressing out on loan at Sassuolo this season, and his performances have sparked some interest from Roma.

The 25-year-old has made 23 Serie A appearances, notching one goal and two assists. He has predominantly played as a right back, despite his ability to play on the left.

Toljan may now manage to earn a permanent move to Italy, whether that’s with Sassuolo or with Roma, and this interest will no doubt stun Celtic fans.

Toljan spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers pouncing to sign him. As a quick and exciting full back, this was seen as a strong move from the Bhoys.

Yet the German never really got going at Celtic. The Bhoys eventually sent him back to Germany, ruling out the possibility of a permanent move.

Toljan has seemingly managed to get back on track since then. Even so, a move to a European giant like Roma would be a huge shock for Celtic fans, who were largely pleased when the Bhoys axed him and didn’t look back a year ago.
