The Dutchman is said to be a target for Ronald Koeman.
Reports in Italy have suggested that AS Roma are on the verge of offering a new contract to Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman – to fend off interest from Premier League side Everton.
Strootman has struggled with injuries during his time in the Italian capital but the club are still hopeful of him being a stalwart in the first-team for many years to come.

However, it is reported by Corriere dello Sport that Roma are concerned about the interest from Everton.
Everton’s interest is said to have Roma worried that the player could ask for a move and with his current deal expiring in 2018 it would leave the Giallorossi struggling to deny a big enough deal for the player.
With that in mind CdS report that Roma are offering him a new contract which would potentially keep him at the club until 2021.

Everton are said to be considering Strootman as a long-term replacement for Gareth Barry and Roma are clearly concerned that Premier League football and the potential to work with his countryman Ronald Koeman could be a very tempting situation for Strootman.

However, the report also claims that the midfielder is keen to repay Roma for standing by him throughout his injury troubles.
Everton therefore look to be fighting a losing battle.
