According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma are seeking £27 million for Amadou Diawara with both Leeds United and Arsenal keen on signing the player.

The holding midfielder has been heavily linked with an exit from Roma.

Reports of Arsenal’s intentions first surfaced by TMW in June, with the Gunners looking at the player as a potential alterative to top midfield target Thomas Partey.

But Leeds have seemingly joined their new Premier League rivals in the chase.

According to Il Messaggero this weekend, the agent of Diawara will fly to England next week to hold talks with Leeds regarding a potential move to Elland Road.

The latest report in the Gazzetta acknowledges interest from both Leeds and Arsenal. However, it adds that Roma value their player at around the £27 million mark.

Arsenal will be looking to bolster their midfield options this summer.

Dani Ceballos has returned to Real Madrid following his successful loan spell. Lucas Torreira, meanwhile, could move back to Italy after falling out of favour.

The Gunners have seemingly made no secret that Atletico Madrid’s Partey tops their wish-list. However, the Ghana international would be an expensive recruit.

Diawara, 23, only joined Roma from Napoli last summer. He enjoyed a decent campaign, making 19 league starts and posting one goal and one assist.

Leeds may see him as an ideal partner for fellow midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

The Whites will need to make a couple of key additions as they seek to establish themselves in the top-flight, and Diawara has the potential to be a real hit in England.
