Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the race for Sander Berge.
According to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, Roma have been scouting Genk starlet Sander Berge as they consider a 2019 bid for the midfielder.
Roma have been disappointing in Serie A this season, notching just 21 points from 15 games to leave them 22 points behind league leaders Juventus already.
Boss Eusebio Di Francesco is in danger of being sacked, and sporting director Monchi is now looking for potential January targets to bolster this struggling side.
Now, Il Messaggero report that Roma have been scouting Genk star Berge, registering a late interest in signing him amid strong links to Spurs.
The Norwegian midfielder is a huge presence in holding midfield at 6ft 4in tall, and has impressed not only with his strength and frame, but also his composure and ability on the ball.
At just 20, Berge has a huge future ahead of him, and whilst Roma may be keen on signing him, he may just be North London-bound next month.
TEAMtalk reported recently that Tottenham are favourites to sign Berge and lead the way for his signature, in a deal which could cost around €15million (£13.7million).
With Roma struggling, Spurs should still be confident of securing Berge’s signature, but news of Roma’s interest may just mean that they have to move quickly when the January transfer window opens.
