Newcastle United have been linked with Roma defender Emerson Palmieri.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Roma have already started eyeing up replacements for defender Emerson Palmieri amid interest from Newcastle United.
Emerson, 23, started his career in Brazil with Santos, and after spending the 2014-15 season on loan with Palermo, Italian rivals Roma swooped to sign him.
The left back has made nearly 50 appearances for Roma, becoming a first-team regular last season before slipping down the pecking order after Aleksandar Kolarov’s arrival over the summer.

Emerson has almost been frozen out this season, and he has just one Serie A appearance to his name this term, which was a 16-minute substitute appearance earlier this month.
Now, Tutto Mercato Web report that Emerson is edging towards the exit door, and Roma have already started looking for potential replacements ahead of the January transfer window.
It’s claimed that Newcastle United are keen to land Emerson, with Juventus and Liverpool also believed to be looking at the Italian international for a 2018 move.

Newcastle will almost certainly move to sign a left back next month, given that they have a lack of depth in the position, with Paul Dummett only making his return from a four-month injury on Tuesday night.
Emerson would fit the bill, and Roma are seemingly open to letting him go after struggling for playing time this season – but whether Newcastle can afford a deal is another matter as Rafael Benitez targets new signings.
