AS Roma are interested in Arsenal central midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to Calciomercato.
What’s the story?
After Jose Mourinho failed in his move for Granit Xhaka, it seems he’s now targeting the outcast.
Torreira has not been part of the Arsenal set-up since Mikel Arteta joined the club in 2019. He spent last season on loan with Atletico Madrid, however, struggled for regular starts.
And he’s returned this summer with Mikel Arteta eager to let him go.
Roma are not the first Italian side to register an interest in the diminutive midfielder. Fiorentina and Lazio are two other Serie A outfits who want to sign the 25-year-old.
Calciomercato says the Giallorossi could sign the £26m Uruguay international on a season-long loan deal.

Arsenal must sell Torreira as Roma join race
The worry before the transfer window opened was, how would the north Londoners sell all the deadwood?
It was a concerning issue, and so far, the worries have been realised.
Joe Willock is the only player to make a permanent exit in what has been an underwhelming few months.
However, Arsenal have a massive chance to sell Torreira as Roma join the race.
With as many as three clubs interested in the defensive midfielder, it seems almost impossible he stays beyond August 31st.
Selling Torreira to raise funds for incomings is of the utmost importance and should not be a problem.
You would almost question the hierarchy at the Emirates Stadium if Torreira stayed beyond this month given all the interest.
