It is being reported in Italy that Roma have given up on Ashley Cole and will definitely offload him in the January transfer window.
Ashley Cole’s Italian adventure is all but over, according to reports from Italy that believe Roma have already made up their mind to get rid of him.
Cole arrived at Roma on a free transfer in the summer after his contract with Chelsea expired and has struggled to settle in the Eternal City.
The former England international lost his place in the starting 11 after some poor performances, the most memorable coming against Bayern Munich when his side were humbled 7-1 and Arjen Robben tormented Cole.
It is believed that several sides in the MLS are waiting with open arms and Cole could be allowed to talk to them sooner rather than later.
The decision to move to Serie A was a bold one for Cole, who had spent his career within a very small geographical area, but the gamble hasn’t paid off.
While the Italian press have always been quick to point out Cole’s credentials in England, it is widely agreed that he has been surprisingly inadequate in a Roma shirt and won’t be missed should he exit the Stadio Olimpico at the first opportunity.
Crystal Palace are said to want Cole on loan for the second time in his career and that move could well suit everyone involved.
