Roma are reportedly keen to lure Marcelo Bielsa away from Leeds United.

According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma have now added Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa to their wishlist as they look for a new manager this summer.

Roma sacked Eusebio Di Francesco back in March, and brought in Claudio Ranieri as his interim replacement until the end of the season.

Now, Roma are ramping up their efforts to bring in a new manager, and are running out of options as Gian Piero Gasperini is unlikely to leave Atalanta, whilst Maurizio Sarri is either set to stay at Chelsea or go to Juventus or AC Milan instead.

That means Roma are having to explore other options, and Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio today reports that Roma have now added Leeds boss Bielsa to their wishlist.

Bielsa, 63, missed out on automatic promotion with Leeds following a poor end to the season, and then saw his side throw away a 2-0 aggregate lead over Derby County to crash out of the Championship playoffs.

Leeds are hoping to keep the Argentinian at Elland Road, but convincing him to spend another season in the Championship may be difficult if big offers are coming in.

An innovative coach who has brought so much to the Championship, Bielsa may well be tempted by a big move to Roma, who will be playing in Europe next season.

It would be a somewhat controversial move, as Bielsa agreed to take charge of Roma’s bitter rivals Lazio in 2016, but spent just two days in charge before quitting and spending almost a year out of the game.

A return to Italy’s capital may be on the cards, but Leeds will hold talks with Bielsa in the coming days in a desperate attempt to keep him at Elland Road for next season.
