Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny could remain at Roma for another season.
According to GianlucaDiMarzio, Roma are close to extending Wojciech Szczesny’s loan deal from Arsenal.
The report claims that the two clubs are close to finding an agreement over another season-long loan deal which will allow the Poland international to remain in the Italian capital.
Szczesny was Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper for three seasons before losing his place to Colombian David Opsina midway through the 2014/15 campaign following a number of high-profile errors.
Despite his intentions to remain with the Gunners and fight for his place, the 26-year-old was pushed further down the pecking order at the start if last season due to the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea.
As a result, Szczesny joined Roma on a season-long loan deal and quickly established himself as the club’s number one, starting as many as 39 games for the Italians in all competitions.
Seemingly content to stay with Roma, the Serie A club are seeking another loan spell for Szczesny and fresh reports from GianlucaDiMarzio claims a deal has nearly been agreed between the two clubs.
Arsenal stand to benefit should the shot-stopper enjoy another decent campaign in Rome, as Szczesny could return a better goalkeeper next summer or his price-tag could potentially increase.
The Polish goalkeeper’s contract with Arsenal expires in 2018, giving the club time to consider his future.
