Rolf Feltscher’s proposed move to Birmingham City is off following Harry Redknapp’s sacking on Saturday, the Sun reports.

It is claimed that Feltscher, who left Getafe at the end of last season, has spent the past 10 days with the Blues and was told he would be offered a contract.

But on speaking to Redknapp’s temporary successor Lee Carsley on Monday, the Venezuela defender is said to have been informed a decision is still to be taken.

And that appears to have proved the final straw for Feltscher, who the Sun reports is travelling back to Switzerland, the country of his birth, as he awaits other offers.

“Rolf feels very let down by Birmingham City. He thought he was signing but now he can’t get an answer out of them,” a friend of Feltscher is quoted as telling the tabloid.

Redknapp previously hinted that Birmingham could offer Sebastien Bassong a contract, after the Cameroon defender also spent time training with the club this month.

But that deal would itself appear to be under threat following Redknapp’s exit, with the pair’s history together a likely factor in their Blues link up.
