According to The Huddersfield Examiner, Huddersfield Town are still looking to bring in Newcastle United’s Rolando Aarons in January.
The Terriers hoped to sign Aarons before the EFL deadline last month, but the move collapsed as paperwork wasn’t received in time.
Chairman Phil Hodgkinson has suggested that Huddersfield would rather continue pursuing Aarons than look elsewhere, giving themselves weeks to thrash out a deal.
It’s now suggested that Aarons is still a priority, and a deal for the Newcastle wide man could go through quickly in January.
Aarons, 24, joined Newcastle from Bristol City in 2012, and emerged into the first team just two years later, earning early comparisons to fellow Jamaican-born winger Raheem Sterling.
Sadly, Aarons couldn’t build on his immediate impact in the Newcastle side, and has just 27 first-team appearances to his name with the Magpies.
Loan spells with Verona, Slovan Liberec, Sheffield Wednesday, Wycombe Wanderers and Motherwell haven’t helped his cause, so a permanent move to Huddersfield may be best for all.
Aarons is out of contract at the end of the season, so Newcastle likely won’t bring in much money for him in January, but at least they have a buyer seemingly ready and raring to go.
