Celtic reportedly aren’t making a move to sign Lucas Leiva on loan from Liverpool.
Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva in action
According to the Daily Mail, Celtic won’t be making a move to sign Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
The Bhoys have made four summer signings under new manager Brendan Rodgers, with Dorus De Vries, Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele all arriving so far.
However, with Champions League qualification secured, Rodgers may yet look to add more new faces to his squad – and a familiar theme has been clear with three of his signings.

De Vries and Sinclair worked with Rodgers at Swansea, whilst Toure was one of his first-team defenders at Liverpool, meaning three reunions have been completed this summer.
Despite that interesting factor in Celtic’s summer business, the Daily Mail report that one reunion that won’t be happening before the transfer deadline is with Lucas Leiva, whose Liverpool future remains in some doubt.

The Brazilian midfielder, 29, worked with Rodgers at Liverpool and, whilst he wasn’t always a key player, he was a dependable figure whenever called upon.
Lucas, a 2007 signing from Gremio, appears to be down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, and Sky Sports reported at the end of last month that Galatasaray were keen to take him to Turkey.

However, Celtic allegedly won’t be entering the race to sign Lucas on loan, with the Daily Mail citing club sources, who suggest there is no interest in a deal for the holding midfielder – despite Rodgers’ hopes of strengthening the position.
That leaves Lucas again either fighting for his Liverpool future or potentially heading elsewhere, as a move to Celtic Park has seemingly been completely ruled out.
