Celtic are reportedly keen on Ajax winger Viktor Fischer.
Viktor Fischer of Middlesbrough in action
According to The Northern Echo, Celtic are pursuing a summer deal for Middlesbrough winger Viktor Fischer after a disappointing season on Teesside.
The Bhoys are in the market for new signings even after an unbeaten domestic campaign, in which Celtic won three trophies and obliterated all in their path in Scotland.
European fortunes will now be at the forefront of Brendan Rodgers’ plans, and adding new faces to his squad ahead of the Champions League qualifiers will be key.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
Rodgers has managed to revitalise the career of winger Scott Sinclair, and he could look to the English market for another wide man who has failed to live up to expectations in recent times.
The Northern Echo report that Celtic want to sign Middlesbrough winger Viktor Fischer, and could get somewhere close to giving Boro the £3.8million they spent on him last summer.

Fischer, 22, was touted as a star of the future after joining Ajax from Midtjylland in 2011, and after hitting 33 goals in 111 games for the Amsterdam giants, he moved on to Middlesbrough last summer.
The Danish international, who has three goals in 15 caps for his country, started just six Premier League games for Boro with another seven substitute appearances to his name, but he did notch three assists in his limited playing time.

Now, it’s claimed that Fischer – who has struggled for form and fitness at the Riverside Stadium – is wanted by Celtic, as manager Rodgers has been a long-term fan of the player from his days at Ajax.
Dutch clubs are also believed to be keen on Fischer, but Celtic will hope that their Champions League status can land them a winger with great potential who just needs the right manager – and that could be Rodgers.
