Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata and Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn are reportedly on Brendan Rodgers’s radar this summer.

Leicester City are ready to back Brendan Rodgers to meet Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn’s £20 million asking price this summer, while the Foxes are also hoping to land Dedryck Boyata on a free transfer once his Celtic deal expires, according to a report from the Daily Record.
Rodgers appears to be wasting little time putting some plans in place following his move from Parkhead to the King Power Stadium earlier this week.
The move upset and angered a lot of Hoops supporters, and it appears that he could be about to annoy them further as he looks to take advantage of Boyata’s contract situation with the Scottish Premiership champions.
The Daily Record reports that the Belgian’s deal runs out at the end of the season and he is expected to leave, and that has tempted Rodgers to have a look at a potential reunion with the 28-year-old. Interestingly, Rodgers criticised Boyata earlier in the season after he missed their crucial Champions League qualifier against AEK Athens (via Guardian).

The Record adds that Rodgers is also hoping to finally land McGinn this coming summer having missed out on the midfielder while he was at Celtic.
The report suggests that the Villans paid £3 million to beat the Bhoys to the 24-year-old’s signature, and could now demand £20 million at the end of the season following his fantastic first year with the Championship side. Importantly though, the Record suggests that Leicester are ready to back Rodgers over that asking price.

It will probably be a lot easier for Rodgers to justify his move away from Celtic if he manages to convince Leicester to pay £60 million on three summer targets – the Record also mentions interest in £40 million-rated Callum Wilson.
But it will probably do little for what is left of the relationship between himself and the Celtic fans if he ends up pinching Boyata and also landing a former Hoops target in McGinn.
