Celtic are reportedly keen on Barnsley playmaker Conor Hourihane.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
According to The Sun, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has ordered scouting reports on Barnsley midfielder Conor Hourihane – and the player would allegedly jump at the chance to join his boyhood club.
The Bhoys boosted their squad over the summer by signing Dorus De Vries, Cristian Gamboa, Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele, but manager Rodgers may yet want another midfielder in his ranks.

Rodgers already has the likes of Scott Brown, Nir Bitton, Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor and Kristoffer Ajer at his disposal, but appears to have set his sights on a Championship midfielder.
The Sun report that Rodgers has his eye on Barnsley playmaker Conor Hourihane, and has ordered reports from his scouts about the Irishman.

Hourihane, 25, hit 14 goals for Barnsley during the 2014-15 season having signed from Plymouth Argyle, and even added another 11 goals last season.
The former Sunderland youngster has found the net three times this season, and it’s not only his passing and long-range shooting that have caught the eye, as he’s also Barnsley captain and has shown leadership in the heart of midfield.

Hourihane is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he can either move on a free transfer next summer, or pen a pre-contract agreement with a non-English club in January.
That may be what Celtic are hoping for, and it’s claimed that Hourihane grew up supporting Celtic, meaning he would jump at the chance to join the Bhoys and fulfil his dream – though any move could depend on the reports Rodgers receives.
