Daniel Sturridge is now seeking to leave Liverpool.

Daniel Sturridge’s Liverpool career could come to an end in January with the striker struggling for first team football.
Sturridge has failed to convince Jurgen Klopp he should play regularly, and this has impacted his England ambitions.

The report states Rodgers actively tried to scupper a deal, doing so months earlier, only to be unsuccessful the following transfer window.
ESPN report: “Brendan Rodgers did not want Sturridge at Anfield. Initially, the deal was planned to go though in the summer transfer window of 2012.
“Rodgers scuppered the move at the last moment, much to the chagrin of the club’s hierarchy. Fenway Sports Group, the owners, would not be denied. Sturridge joined the club the next January and Rodgers had to accede to his employers’ wishes.”

Sturridge’s best football of his career would actually come under Rodgers’ management, in the 2013/14 season.
But a year later his ongoing injury problems played a part in Rodgers’ Liverpool side falling backwards dramatically and the manager was fired in 2015.
This season Sturridge has made four of a possible 12 Premier League starts, making a further four substitute appearances, and has scored twice.
