Celtic are reportedly preparing a move for Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are considering a late move to sign Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna, with Brendan Rodgers thought to be keen on the Scot.
The Bhoys have yet to add a new face from the end of last season, but have tied down loanees Scott Bain and Odsonne Edouard to permanent deals after impressing Rodgers.
Rodgers should still be in the market for new signings though, and with ongoing concerns about the fitness of Marvin Compper – and the future of Dedryck Boyata – another centre back may still be wanted.
Now, The Scottish Sun claim that Rodgers is keen on a new centre back, with Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna emerging as a potential target late in the transfer window for Rodgers.
Swansea City have been pursuing McKenna, but have under a week to get a deal done now, whereas Celtic have until the end of the month given the different closing times of the window for English and Scottish clubs.
Celtic will therefore hope that their patience pays off, though it’s unclear just how much Aberdeen will want for McKenna, with one report from the Daily Record claiming that he would cost a huge £10million.

Celtic are unlikely to pay that, but they could certainly top Hull’s alleged £2million offer, with Celtic keen to snap up more of the top young Scottish talent having signed Jack Hendry and Lewis Morgan this year.
McKenna, 21, has come up through the ranks with Aberdeen, and has made more than 40 appearances for the club whilst picking up four Scotland caps, and he could prove to be the left-sided defender Rodgers is looking for.
