According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic have reached an agreement with Dunfermline for the transfer of teenager PJ Crossan.
New Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers secured his first signing as Bhoys boss yesterday, with French striker Moussa Dembele arriving from Fulham on a four-year deal.
Now, Rodgers appears to be closing in on his second summer signings, with The Scottish Sun reporting that Celtic have agreed a deal with Dunfermline for teenager PJ Crossan.
The 17-year-old, who has played for Scotland Under-17’s, has emerged as one of the most talented young Scottish players around, and despite interest from elsewhere, Celtic appear to have won the race for Crossan’s signature by striking a deal today.
Crossan, predominantly a forward, was out of contract this summer, and the report claims that Celtic had three bids for the player turned down, meaning the move was heading to a tribunal to determine how much compensation the Bhoys had to pay.
Now though, it’s believed that Celtic have agreed a fee with Dunfermline for the player, believed to be potentially worth six figures including add-on clauses.
It’s added that Crossan must now agree personal terms with Celtic, but negotiations are expected to be a formality as the young attacker nears becoming Rodgers’ second signing as Bhoys manager.
With Crossan joining other talented Scottish youngsters like Kieran Tierney, Callum McGregor, Jack Aitchison, Ryan Christie and Aidan Nesbitt, Celtic appear to be building a homegrown team for the future – and after some costly foreign flops in recent years, fans will be happy to see Scottish talent emerging at Celtic Park.
